Principal and Founder, HR Futures®

The principal and founder of HR Futures®, Dr. Stephen McElfresh was previously the president and CEO of Saratoga Institute. Before Saratoga, Dr. McElfresh was the chief HR officer for SRI International (formerly known as Stanford Research Institute), Exponent, Inc. (formerly known as Failure Analysis Associates) and Friden Alcatel.

Dr. McElfresh conducts keynote presentations for executive, industry and professional groups. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Academy of Management (AoM), Society of Psychologists in Management and the American Psychological Association. In addition, he has written editorials for the Silicon Valley Business Journal and reviews proposed articles and presentations for SHRM and AoM, is certified by SHRM as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and was a charter member of the SHRM national panel for Human Capital Measurement and HR Metrics.

Dr. McElfresh has taught at Boston College and the University of Massachusetts. He has served on the boards of directors or advisory boards of the Bay Area Executive Council, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology and the Bay Area Organizational Development Network. He is past president of the Bay Area HR Executives Council. Dr. McElfresh earned a Ph.D. in organizational psychology from Boston College and a J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law.
